VMware Cloud Foundation Readiness Assessment

Ready for VCF? Discover with our comprehensive assessment.

comdivision, as part of the Broadcom Premier Partnership, recently assisted service providers in evaluating their IT infrastructure for readiness to transition to VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF). This comprehensive assessment aimed to analyze hardware, network, software, skillsets, and operational procedures – providing actionable insights and recommendations for a successful migration to VCF amidst changing license requirements.

The Challenge

The evolving landscape of VMware and Broadcom licensing for Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) posed a significant challenge for service providers that were considering the transition to VCF. Determining the readiness of existing IT infrastructure, both from a technical and operational standpoint, required a thorough evaluation. The complexity of aligning hardware, software, skillsets, and operational procedures with the requirements of VCF demanded meticulous analysis and strategic planning.

The Solution

To address these challenges, comdivision conducted a comprehensive assessment encompassing technical and operational aspects of the IT infrastructure environment. After six workshops, the outcome of this assessment was a detailed 20-page document providing deep-dive guidance on how the architecture would need to evolve to integrate seamlessly with VCF given the existing environment. This document outlined the necessary investments in IT infrastructure and servers, along with a thorough analysis of the financial impact of migrating to VCF.

By providing a roadmap tailored to the specific needs of the service provider, comdivision empowered them to make informed decisions regarding the migration to VCF. The document served as a blueprint for the transformation; it offered insights into the architectural changes, resource requirements, and financial implications of the transition.

The Result

Armed with the assessment report and guidance provided by comdivision, the respective service provider is positioned to collaborate further in designing the target solution. Building upon the insights gained from the assessment, comdivision will work closely with the customer to refine their architectural design, ensuring that it aligns seamlessly with the requirements of VCF and the objectives of the Broadcom Premier Partnership.

The Outlook

The successful execution of the assessment by comdivision underscores the importance of strategic planning and meticulous analysis in navigating the transition to VMware Cloud Foundation. In the next stage, comdivision's design package for a CSP VCF environment will be utilized to get a clear architectural target.
