Although the client’s team has extensive expertise in VMware technologies, the company reached out for comdivision to get a better and more complete understanding of the VMware Cloud Foundation ecosystem and how new cloud services can be built and created.
For the next phase of CloudKey, the client utilized comdivision’s advanced VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) design services. Within this offering, comdivision hosted workshops designed to identify all requirements, constraints, and potential risks to ensure the project will be technically successful and conducive to the business. “The idea of the VCF Design Package is that we, as comdivision, create a design that has extracted all requirements and make sure that the solution we create is compliant with your needs.” said Lenz, one of the architects on the project. With a fixed-price model, the client has clear visibility into the project costs from the outset.
The architects around comdivision created a design that offers self-service capabilities via VMware Cloud Director on top of VMware Cloud Foundation. This design will be applied in 3 data center sites across the United States. A comprehensive networking concept was also created, which enables the client to seamlessly integrate their customers' existing networks into the virtual data centers managed by VMware Cloud Director. Since the client already has robust deployment experience, they only required comdivision’s advanced design services. "Getting handover design artefacts in form of confluence pages, PDFs and Excels that allows us to properly understand and configure a cloud environment is something we haven’t seen so far in the industry," the Head of Cloud Services added.
